As the new year begins, many of us feel inspired to set intentions. For me, one of the most important resolutions I’ve made is to hold more space for myself.

It might sound simple, but holding space means giving yourself permission to slow down, to breathe, and to create just a little distance between you and everything else – your to-do list, the constant pings from your phone, even the swirling thoughts in your mind.

It’s about presence. And presence is a practice.

The Power of Putting the Phone Down 📵

These days, it feels like something is always vying for our attention. But what if we chose to not respond straight away? What if we put the phone down for longer stretches of time and turned that attention inward?

Because within you (yes, within you!) is a vast ocean of calm and peace. And when you tap into it, your decisions, your steps forward, and your confidence begin to feel grounded in something solid. Something real.

And that something is you.

Start Small, Then Go Deep 🧘

Finding time to meditate can be challenging. Life is busy, and sometimes the idea of “sitting still and doing nothing” feels like just another item on the list. But you don’t have to leap into 30-minute meditations straight away.

Start with 30 seconds.
Then a minute.
Then maybe five.

Even a brief pause – putting your phone down and walking around your house, your street, or just sitting in quiet – can reconnect you to you. Notice the thoughts that come up. Are they loving? Are they scattered? Are they yours?

If not, that’s your inner guidance inviting you to do a little more inner work (and meditation!) can help with that. Even something as simple as counting your breaths can anchor you back into yourself.

Your Attention Is Sacred ✨

When we’re constantly chasing thoughts, we often feel like passengers in our own life. But the moment you release yourself from that chase, something beautiful happens:

You get to choose your next step.
You get to choose your path.
You get to choose you.

This year, I’m excited to create more space around me – not just so I can breathe deeper, but so I can walk more confidently toward the beautiful possibilities waiting for me.
