How to relieve a headache, naturally! My 4 fast-acting tips!

Oh my bleeping head.

We’ve all felt the pang of a headache at some point or another in life, and it’s little wonder why given how much time we spend on our phones and computers, and watching television.

When we’re in that state of pain, it’s really easy to forget the simple steps you can take to relieve a headache naturally.  I myself get a tension headache every now and again, so wanted to share with you what I do to relieve my headaches, naturally!

How to naturally relieve a headache in 4 steps!

Of course though, if your headache gets worse or the pain persists – please don’t disregard taking something for relief or going to a doctor. These are suggestions can definitely encourage relief, but should never replace medical advice.

Step 1. Remember to Breathe.  Make sure you’re breathing normally. But first, you might need stretch those lungs because they’re probably been constricted for a while! So take at least 3 deep breaths in, then each time exhale all the air out.

Step 2. Re-hydrate yourself. Oftentimes we can forget to stay hydrated, especially if you’re stressed or busy! It’s now time to take a few slow sips of water.  And if you’re a woman and think this could be related PMS, here’s an extra tip – eat a piece of dark chocolate!

Step 3. Let’s Roll!  Now you should loose up the muscles by relaxing your shoulders, neck, and eyes. Firstly, roll your shoulders backward a few times, then forward. Now roll your neck around – but don’t try to overstretch is, just let your head fall to the side, back, other side and front. Lastly, roll your eyes – with your head still, look straight up, and slowly move your eyes at a nice steady pace (like they’re second hand on a clock) all the way around and back again.

Step 4. Headache Release Mudra.  Let’s top if off with a hand mudra (I teach this one and many more in my Energy Healing with Hand Mudras course), which is a little gesture you with your hands. Long story short, once you hold the gesture, you’ll notice the headache start to melt away!

  • Start off by touching the tips of your thumb, index and middle fingers together,
  • Then fold your ring ringer into your palm,
  • Finally, extend your little finger outward,
  • Do this with both hands and just hold the position for as long as it’s comfortable.

I hope you found my fast-acting tips helpful in freeing your head of the pangs of those headaches sweet friends!  Namaste and #biglove to you!

    Hello Melissa,
I was reading this article (I love your blog and your online courses!) and I noticed that you write to use both hands for headache relief while in your book “5 simple steps for self healing” you write to use right OR left hand for the hand mudra and I’m a bit confused! Can you please help?
    Thank you,
    Christina

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by Christina, and I’m so glad you enjoy my blog and courses 🙂 With regards to the headache mudra – you can indeed use either, or both, it comes down to the severity of the headache and what you feel is most comfortable. If you have any further questions about the Mudra course, please ensure you message me directly in the student platform sweet friend, thank you so much! Keep shining your light! x
