I get asked “how long will it take me to learn Reiki online?” quite a lot and it’s a really good question! Why? Because it tells me the person asking is seriously working out whether they can fit a Reiki journey into their life 🦋 So let me give you the truthful answer: it depends.

Don’t worry! I will clarify more in a little bit. But I want to be honest with you – learning something as natural, intuitive and beautiful as Reiki isn’t the same as learning literature or algebra. There is no need to cram for an exam or “rush” to finish! Reiki is an experiential, energetic practice, which means the “time it takes” is as much about the person’s ability to integrate and experience it, as it is about the hours spent studying it.

With that said, let me share more specific timelines with you…

The Short Answer 💡

With a self-paced online course like Natural Healer™’s Reiki 1, 2 and Master programme, most students complete the course within a month or so, with part-time study.

But there are some, who have more time at their disposal, that dive in and immerse themselves fully – completing the course within a couple of weeks, with full-time study.

There are some who move through the course much more slowly — taking several months (even years!) so they can “sit” with each level before progressing, or to pause it because “life” has gotten in the way. There’s no wrong way here, there’s just the way that suits you best.

And because the Natural Healer™ course covers all three levels (Reiki 1, 2 and Master) in a single programme, there are no waiting periods between levels, no separate enrolments, and no fixed timelines. You move at the pace that feels right for you – and with lifetime access, there’s genuinely no rush 🌷

Self-paced online vs. fixed in-person timelines 🤔

Understandably, “in-person” Reiki training must be structured around scheduled classes or intensive weekend workshops. While this works well for some learners, while it does have real constraints: fixed dates, geographic limitations, and the need to absorb a lot of information in a compressed timeframe, often without the option to revisit what you’ve covered.

On the other hand – online, self-paced learning flips things entirely. You can:

  • Watch a video lesson twice (or more!) if something doesn’t click the first time
  • Take a few days between chapters to sit with what you’ve learned
  • Study when your mind is fresh and receptive, not just when a class is scheduled
  • Come back to any section of the course at any point, even after graduation.

Yes! You can learn Reiki online! Traditionally everything – including Reiki – has always been taught “in person” because that was the only means by which teachers could instruct their students. As the world has changed and technology has evolved, so has the ability to learn from anyone, anywhere, and at anytime. 
 
What this does is now allow students the ability to choose what suits them best: either “in person” or online. As you’ll learn in the course, the Universal Life Force Energy is everywhere, it’s part of us, and we are a part of it. Because it is not bound by space or time when speaking in an energy healing capacity – neither are we. This means there is no distance between us. As such, Reiki can be learned and done in-person or at a distance. And that stands for Student Attunement Ceremonies, too!

Yes! Attunements can be done via distance! How? Because Reiki is energy healing – and energy healing has no boundaries or time-restraints – there are no limitations on the ability to attune students from afar. Reiki healing can be done at a distance which means the ceremonies can by done at a distance too!

To further clarify, Melissa connects energetically with students (after they have confirmed their ceremony date and time with her) and performs the ceremony completely remotely. After the ceremony is done, Melissa emails all the information about it (date, time frame and so on) to each student, including any observations she made.

Yes! You can ask questions throughout the course! Melissa makes herself available to help guide her students at any point during their learning journey. Students can directly ask Melissa questions in two different ways: either (1) within the course itself using our “Lecture Discussions” feature. This allows Melissa and the student to converse within the course content itself.

And (2) via the Reiki Student Community, which allows students to chat with Melissa – and with other students if they wish – to ask questions, share experiences, find practice buddies, and more! In either scenario, Melissa will respond and converse directly with students there.
